The next few blogs are a series of tips to keep your beauty best that will focus on specific areas. The first area I want to talk about is skin. Practically every day I get asked what I do to keep my skin so clear and make up flawless. To achieve this with your skin, don't over think it. Don’t t treatments to prevent skin problems until those problems arise- or else your skin will become immune to treatments.
Every day I apply my make up differently. But it always looks the same! Why? Because before I even begin to apply I look at my face and evaluate! Are my eyes puffy, sagging, red, dark? Am I really tired? Do I have any breakouts? This tells me what I need to adjust and how to apply. I kept a daily journal for a few weeks, and I made little notes of things I did different daily. I've also included other tid bits of life's hacks on beauty that I think are very important!
I live by each and every rule listed- I may not use each rule daily, but at some point I do!
-After washing your face, remove any excess cleanser with a cool splash of water, this helps to close pores and reduce pore size.
-Oily skin- Use a gel cleanser and gel moisturizer to wash your face. Cream cleansers will add too much moisture.
-Dry/Combination skin- Use a cream cleanser and cream moisturizer to wash your face. Creams are less dehydrating and less harsh than gel cleansers.
-If you often find yourself being too tired to wash your face at night, keep makeup removing wipes in your night stand to prevent a runny mess or morning break out. Also use a toning mist to spritz on after wiping. Of course it’s best to wash so try not to use wipes a lot.
-Use a facial exfoliant 1-2 times weekly to get rid of dead skin and skin cell build up. Makeup will apply easier on a clean, smooth canvas, and skin will radiate with imperfection. Ladies with dry skin, you must exfoliate too!
-Breakout before a big event? Take oral cortisone a few days before the event to clear your skin.
-Huge swollen pimple and it’s date night?- tone down the pimple just a bit by dabbing it with Visine. Visine helps to tone down the redness to a bare minimum. Just soak a cotton ball in Visine and then hold it on your zit for a few minutes. The redness will go away for a few hours and you can cover up the zit itself with concealer. If you have time, put the soaked cotton ball in the freezer and then apply. The cold compress helps to reduce inflammation.
-Out of acne spot treatment? Crush a few Advil or aspirin and mix with water to create a paste (or open an Advil gel capsule), and leave the paste or gel on problem spots overnight.
-How to clear skin when you notice a pimple? Apply tea tree oil as soon as you spot it. Tea tree oil is a natural topical antiseptic.
